The Playback Theatre style of improvisation celebrates the universality of human experience and builds bridges of understanding. Playback Theatre is performed in a variety of contexts including theatres, schools, prisons, community celebrations, corporate training rooms and conferences. Pacific Playback Theatre focuses expressly on organization development - to celebrate diverse perspectives and discover common ground.
A Pacific Playback Theatre performance begins by eliciting participant experiences which relate to the organization's pressing issues. Improvising dialogue, movement and music, the ensemble enacts individual challenges and triumphs with humor and compassion.
Playback Theatre was created by Jonathan Fox and the Original Playback Theatre Company in 1975. Pacific Playback Theatre is a member of the International Playback Theatre Network. There are Playback Theatre ensembles in over 20 countries, including: Australia, Brazil, Cuba, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Russia & the U.S.
